Tampere parkrun never disappoints and it’s always a joy to be here! What wonderful weather we had today. No ice, blue skies, glorious sunshine, and not too hot. Perfect for running.
This week is Tampere’s 240th birthday so there was a lot happening this weekend. The annual fish market meant we couldn’t meet in our regular parkrun cafe ... so we went to Ciao in the Ratina shopping centre instead.
The run went really well today and in spite of a slight technical hitch our lovely Run Director today, Johanna, processed the results calmly and smoothly! Phew!
A reminder that every parkrun depends on people volunteering to help. You can sign up at the run or afterwards by email here (email@example.com)
Each week we need at least two timekeepers, someone to give out tokens, an RD and someone to scan the tokens and ideally a marshal at the U-turn. Doing one of these tasks every now and then makes sure the parkrun happens but also gives you a chance to get to know other parkrunners a bit better too.
It is also possible to volunteer AND run. Help is also needed to set up and pack down the equipment, process the results, sort the tokens, take photos, write the report (any language) etc.
Hope to see you next week
Same place, same time.
(written on the coach back to Turku (one day we will have a parkrun of our own! ) BTW Today was my 40th parkrun and my 3rd faster time in Tampere so I was very satisfied!)
