This week 51 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 6 were first timers and 9 recorded new Personal Bests. Wonderful!
The event was made possible by 10 volunteers:
Leena HEINO • Jyri HÄNNINEN • Erkki TIILIKKA • Anna-Liisa TIILIKKA • Lorna Stella KOSKELA • Cristian CARDOZO • Kevin HAIKONEN • Samantha BAKER • Ross BRADNER • Anastasios TSIMPLINAS
It was my 25th time of volunteering and I was kindly loaned the official purple t-shirt until mine comes!
It was wonderful to be the RD today and work with all of the volunteer team.
Thank you all!
Especial thanks to Nina for mentoring me in the RD role, Leena who ran the course with me last night (to check everything was ok) and Cristian who processed the results so I could catch the earlier coach home this week.
Today it was especially nice to:
-welcome some parkrunners who had signed up for parkrun way back in 2009, ran in Cardiff (Wales) and now did their second park run ten years later in cold but sunny Tampere! Hope you don’t wait another ten years to run parkrun again!
-cheer the walkers across the finish. hurrah! This group are amongst our most faithful participants: walking the course (whatever the weather) and often volunteering too. The seven last people to cross the line today all have either have the right to wear the red 50 t-shirt, or the 25-volunteer t-shirt and Elvira has both! You are the real stalwarts (tähdet) of Tampere parkrun
-see my RD mentor (Nina) pushed to the limit by her 6 year old son, Kevin, who crossed the line in an amazing 30:45 PB at his third ever adult event! Huge congrats to you Kevin. Congrstulations too to the other two juniors who ran today - a shout out for young Oskar who was spurred on to get a PB too (31:18) . (Just think I once offered to run with the youngsters. I now rescind that offer ...they are way too fast for me!)
Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Tampere parkrun Results Page.
Remember parkrun is free and for everyone. Invite your family and friends to join in the fun. They can walk, jog, interval run, run the 5k course, and we would also be happy to have their -and your- help as volunteers.
Next week is Tampere parkrun’s SECOND BIRTHDAY. We meet at the same time (9:30am) and same place (near the bridge). Please remember to bring your parkrun barcode with you!
Lorna, from Turku (one day we will have a parkrun of our own!)
